Somewhere you should go… Bea’s of Bloomsbury’s Block Party Movie Nights

Somewhere deep in the heart of Bermondsey hides another branch of the  Bea’s Bloomsbury, the superior chain bakeries that offers the loveliest treats nearly too beautiful to eat.  They’ve been enticing people through their doors by throwing on a range of events – from cooking classes to outdoor tea parties –  and this winter, they’re putting on a season of movie night’s block party style. So if you’re craving a different sort of movie experience, it’s time to head down south and get in on the act.

Home Alone

Serving up classic films such as Ghostbusters, The Wizard of Oz, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Miracle of 34th Street and Home Alone, watching flicks here will be nostalgic, but weirdly postmodern too. These block parties have been set up to recall the childhood of the founder – a time when projectors rolled, Spielberg ruled, and the hot dog reigned supreme. And now thanks to their efforts, we can all join in on the fun as well.

For those who are already fans of the movies being shown, this is a great opportunity to experience them in a genuine, welcoming, and exciting atmosphere, while also being tempted by Bea’s deep fried brownies (or you can just go for the wild mushroom and gorgonzola mac and cheese, chilli cheese dogs, mulled wine and hot chocolate that will also be served).  As you can imagine, we can’t wait! (Words: Annie Taylor)
