I do not read enough novels. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly when I fell off, but I suspect it started when I took up cycling two years ago and I’ve lost the benefit of using the commute to get lost in a good book. But I decided to step up in 2015 when I started going to the library (remember those?) and a friend passed me his copy of The White Boy Shuffle by Paul Beatty. He knows me well: the coming of age story about a black kid in Cali is brash, clever and giving me all the lols (Beatty is a poet, so his writing is brilliant). I’ve been taking my sweet time to finish it, but as it’s the New Year, I’m determined to finish it before the end of the month.
What books are you’re looking forward to reading in 2016?
