]]> The Late at the Tate programme has always been a winner, taking place the first Friday of each month and curated to a different theme each time – past examples include ‘The Radio’ – which featured pieces by John Cage, orchestral radio sound work (as bizarre as it the title suggests) and cocktails to wash it all down! This time the Tate allows the youth of today a free reign to explore the chosen theme – Borders and Territories. In collaboration with the University of Arts, the evening will explore the boundaries of art, music, fashion and design and how future generations take inspiration and move forward. Featured highlights include performances from singer-songwriter Tanya Auclair and grimcee P Money, plus a talk from include a talk from Red or Dead founder Wayne Hemingway.

It will be interesting to see what the pubescent tykes find at the borders, particularly considering the aspersions society places on the climate they now grow up in. The limits of youth may be crumbling as the freedom of information grows – I’m thinking access to adult themes through computer games and the Internet – but since the whole of the arts buzzes off boundary-breaking they might be hard pushed to beat them at their own game (Tracey Emin being a good example of this). Either way, it’s definitely a battle I will be getting a ringside seat for. (Words: Laura Thornley)
